Roy Schweiger is a New York–based photographer and director whose work is rooted in the ability to see and read emotions, movements,
and the stories held within a single moment. His fascination with the human face began early, drawn to its diversity and mystery,
and later deepened into an exploration of how light and shadow shape expression.
He started in documentary filmmaking, and realized the language of movement was lacking the language of moment,
of capturing the exact instant where a narrative crystallizes. This shift led him to Milan in 2007,
where he opened his first studio and collaborated with leading fashion houses and designers including DSQUARED2, Zuhair Murad, Gianfranco Ferré, Neil Barrett, and Trussardi.
During a decade in Italy, he immersed himself in the country’s culture of creation—its devotion to detail, craftsmanship, and the everyday artistry of fresh ingredients and cooking—which further shaped his way of seeing.
In 2009, Esquire commissioned Schweiger to lead the photo production for Dolce & Gabbana’s 20‑year Menswear Anniversary retrospective, shot on location at the designers’ Portofino estate and executed with full editorial and creative oversight.
Blending his background in film with photography, Roy pioneered a hybrid visual approach, animating still images through the Parallax effect. His 2014 award‑winning film Institutionalised for DSQUARED2 became a signature example of this movement‑within‑stillness.
In 2015, he relocated to New York, expanding his work with clients such as Marc Jacobs, Mango, VMAGAZINE, Elle, and L’Officiel.
Following his introduction to Andrew Basile, former VP Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman, Schweiger embarked on an ongoing creative partnership that produced editorial work for VMAGAZINE and campaigns for multiple brands.
In 2019, Celine Dion's team commissioned Schweiger ahead of Celine's Met Gala second appearance, capturing a rare mix of presence, vulnerability, and quiet power.
The Fragrance Group hired Roy to open their very first studio in New York in 2021, leading AD campaigns for TUMI, Banana Republic Fragrance Collection and Christian Siriano Fragrance Collection.
Today, Roy continues to craft images where emotion, storytelling, moments, and movements converge—inviting viewers not just to look, but to truly see.
